Once again, one of our favourite speakers, Graham Sutherland, gave us an informative and comprehensive talk on the history and meaning of Zionism. This couldn’t have been more appropriate, considering the present-day situation in the Gaza area and the Middle East. I cannot begin to relate all the facts which Graham included in his talk, let it suffice to say that we were all very impressed with the historical background he presented in such an interesting way. Why is this movement, beginning with the earliest exiles of Jews in Biblical times, called Zionism. This goes back to the highest mountain in Jerusalem, Mt. Zion. The idea of a Jewish state goes back to the 19th century, finally being realized in 1949. As we now know, the problems seem endless. 18 ladies attended this IN-meeting.
