1 February – OUT – Back of House tour at the Hyatt Hotel – Lunch at Mongo’s – 8 attending the lunch and 12 for the Hyatt.
After an opulent meal at Mongo’s we went over to the hotel where the Assistant to the General Manager and one of the apprentices gave us a very warm welcome at the Hyatt Regency Cologne. The tour was most informative. We were able to get an insight into the back of the house and see departments which as a guest one does not normally get to see. It was amazing to see what exactly goes into the smooth running of a big hotel. Every cog has to fit into the wheel. To see the presidential suite was probably one of the highlights of the tour. It’s quite exciting to think about all the different famous people who have stayed there! The Hyatt Regency certainly has a lot to offer its guests in the way of comfort, good service and a friendly atmosphere but especially the views of the Cathedral and the Rhine were stunning. Most of all, however, the reason we all enjoyed the tour so much, was because our guides were most lively and interesting. There was never a dull moment and all too soon the tour was finished. They were 90 most enjoyable minutes, an opinion shared by the whole group, and to finish, a drink in the bar. Wonderful!
