First Summer Lunch in 2020 on Wednesday, 5th August

How delightful it was to see at long last some of our members in person, not just video talks and e-mails! We met at Richter’s Restaurant in Cologne, which is located right next to the Sculpture Park. With a limited number of members, we could sit outside, under the trees, so the heat was quite bearable. Social distancing was also possible and, of course, no hugging and hand-shaking, although the urge was there. Our last official meeting had been mid-March at the Alte Feuerwache, exactly 5 months ago. As always, we had plenty to talk about, and just catch up with various members. It was so nice to see Lesley again, who had been ill, in and out of hospital since last Nov. The plan was to walk around the sculpture park after lunch, exploring the new exhibit, which Liesel knew about and had visited  beforehand. By the time we finished lunch , about 2.30 p.m., it was so hot that some just went directly home, others preferred to sit in the shade (no shade in the park), some of us wandered around slowly, aiming to find the star of the exhibit, Lonesome George, a tiny bronze snail attached to a tree. Thanks to Liesel we found him, he’s so tiny we would have missed him! Now we’re getting excited about the up and coming Cosmo year, hoping that some sort of normality can be found. Check out the website for the latest info on dates and meetings.
